BROADCAST SYSTEM PRODUCTS
The popularity of decorative broadcast systems has significantly increased over the past few years, especially in environments such as kitchens, bathrooms, schools, and many other places in which a decorative floor is desired.
A typical broadcast application consists of 1 coat (10-15 mils) of a 100% solids clear epoxy, into which decorative sand is broadcast to excess. The excess sand is then swept or vacuumed off of the surface. The process is then repeated with a second coat of epoxy, broadcasted to excess, and swept off, which essentially creates what is called a “double-broadcast” system. After the second coat of broadcasted epoxy is swept off, a seal coat of the same 100% solids epoxy is used to seal the surface. The mil thickness of the seal coat is dependent upon the surface profile desired. For an aggressive profile, a thin coat of seal epoxy is recommended, whereas for a smooth glass-like profile, a thick coat (or 2 coats) of seal epoxy is recommended. A clear urethane topcoat is optional.
There are a multitude of products that can be used in a broadcast system, including NP133, NP135M, NP137M, NP139, and NP380 (among many others).
*NOTE – Not all products are compatible as topcoats over other products. Please check with your sales/technical rep to ensure compatibility on each project.*
NP133 - is a 100% solids clear epoxy, and is an excellent low-cost option for decorative broadcast systems. At 70 degrees F, NP133 has a pot life of 15-25 minutes, and can be topcoated in 8-10 hours.
NP137M - is our best-selling 100% solids clear epoxy. NP137M exhibits excellent wear characteristics, clarity, ease of use, and UV stability as compared to other clear epoxies on the market.
NP135M - is a top-of-the-line 100% solids clear epoxy. It is ideal as a final broadcast coat and a seal coat in decorative broadcast systems due to its unparalleled UV stability as compared to other clear epoxies.
NP139 - is a flexible 100% solids clear epoxy designed to be used where flexibility of the coating and potential cracking of the substrate can be an issue. Use of NP139 eliminates the need to repair hairline cracks in the substrate.
NP380 - is a quickset clear 100% solids epoxy. This product is ideal when turnaround time is an issue, as it can be topcoated in 6-9 hours at 70 degrees F.
Seal Coats
NP137M - is our best-selling 100% solids clear epoxy. NP137M exhibits excellent wear characteristics, clarity, ease of use, and UV stability as compared to other clear epoxies on the market.
NP135M - is a top-of-the-line 100% solids clear epoxy. It is ideal as a final broadcast coat and a seal coat in decorative broadcast systems due to its unparalleled UV stability as compared to other clear epoxies.
Urethane Topcoats
NP321 - is a top-of-the-line, solvent-based, two-component, aliphatic urethane topcoat. This product exhibits excellent UV stability, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance, and flexibility. NP321 can be used in many facilities, including warehouses, manufacturing facilities, aircraft hangars, auto service centers, and many more. For a system with better long-term wear, and for high-traffic areas, we recommend adding our HWS aggregate. (sold as NP321HWS)
NP310 & NP310VOC - are single-component, moisture-cured aromatic urethane topcoats. NP310 is an excellent low-cost option where VOC is not an issue. NP310 is comprised of 35% solids, while NP310VOC contains 55% solids.
**It is not recommended to use 310, 310VOC, 357, or 357VOC over 015 due to incompatibility issues**
NP357 & NP357VOC - are single-component, moisture-cured aliphatic urethane topcoats. This product has excellent UV stability and wear resistance. NP357 is comprised of 40% solids, while NP357VOC contains 54% solids
